The truly impressive structure of this Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend is enhanced by a lengthy sojourn in barriques of diverse oak types. Its intense bouquet expresses all the complexity of its components - hints of cocoa, roasted almonds and berries, with plenty of fruit still. Depth, dimension and persistence make this wine a perfect match for important creative dishes.
Wine Spectator 93 points - The 2008 Campaccio is very, very beautiful. It comes across as quite subtle and delicate for this wine, yet the balance is beyond reproach. Dark red cherries, licorice, menthol, flowers, spices and a subtle hint of French oak add complexity on the finish. This is a very pretty vintage for the Campaccio. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023. ”
"Very silky and floral, this red reminds me of Burgundy with its bilberry, violet and raspberry aromas and flavors. The grainy tannins show the other side to this wine, which needs time for the two components to balance. Ends with a long, intense, fruit-filled finish." - Wine Spectator, Wine #36 of 2011 Top 100. (Campaccio is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.)
