Wine Advocate 89 points - The 2011 Grande Reserve Blend is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Malbec, which feels a little oaky at first, quite classical, with aromas of ripe black fruit, cedar, tobacco and some black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied, with grainy-tannins and good balance. A well-crafted blend. Drink now-2016. (Jun 2014)
Firm, with a frame of toasty vanilla that holds the medium-weight core of red and black cherry fruit in check. Direct finish. Drink now.
|The acquisition of Los Vascos by Les Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) in 1988 was the result of a careful search among more than 100 Chilean wines for one that could meet the Rothschild criteria for excellence. The property has been completely renovated, both in viticulture and viniculture. With over 2,200 contiguous hectares, 530 are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (95%) and Chardonnay (5%). Los Vascos is the largest vineyard in the Caneten Valley of Colchagua and can easily maintain its, “Estate Grown, Hand Picked, Hand Sorted, Estate Bottled” status.
