Bright ruby-red. Cherry, licorice and spearmint on the nose. Tight, juicy and penetrating, with a minty medicinal quality and slightly elevated acidity currently dominating the middle palate. Avoids the rusticity of the variety but I wanted more flesh. Its firm tannins call for 6 to 12 months of patience.
