Wine Advocate 87 points - The 2014 Sauvignon Blanc shows a really vegetal nose with a core of lemon juice and green apples plus a chalky undercurrent. Touches of tropical fruit and bell pepper character show up on the palate along with a crisp acid backbone. It finishes long and straightforward (Dec 2014)
This classic Sauvignon Blanc is blended from vineyards across Marlborough to capture all the flavors that this region is famous for. 30% of this wine was sourced from Mud House's Woolshed Vineyard in the upper Wairau Valley while the remainder was carefully selected from grower blocks in the Wairau, Ure and Awatere Valleys of Marlborough. This wine undergoes 100% stainless steel fermentation. This Sauvignon Blanc has super lively pink grapefruit, lime, tangerine citrus, an expert mix of sweet and sour. Complementary nectarine, green apple fruit flavors set it strongly in the mouth, the acidity gives it added presence, the finish remains fluid and flexible. Delivers a lot for the price!
|Established in 1996, the Mud House name reflects the origin and link to the earth, where the wine begins. The vineyards are nurtured to ensure that the grapes reach optimum ripeness, varietal character and flavor. The winemakers then finely craft the wine to capture the essence of its origin. All Mud House wines are produced sustainably. Mud House touches the earth in their three wine growing regions of New Zealand’s South Island. Stephen Dempster, Mud House’s viticulturist and his team of vineyard managers nurture the grapes along their journey to becoming wines that reflect a sense of place.
