The color is a very deep and intense red with violet hints; the bouquet is of red fruits, raspberries and cherries, but also with sweet hints of cream. On the palate, it has good structure and well developed tannins, soft yet powerful at the same time. A very well balanced and harmonious wine.
Wine Spectator 88 points - The 2011 Rosso di Montalcino is, as always, an excellent introduction to the wines of Castello Banfi. An intensely floral wine, the 2011 emerges from the glass with attractive scents of red cherries and raspberries. This soft, supple Rosso is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016.
Medium-bodied, with blackberry and floral flavors galore and a good amount of jammy fruit. Fresh, with a medium fruity finish. Drink now. –JS
