The color is a very deep and intense red with violet hints; the bouquet is of red fruits, raspberries and cherries, but also with sweet hints of cream. On the palate, it has good structure and well developed tannins, soft yet powerful at the same time. A very well balanced and harmonious wine.
Wine Spectator 88 points - The 2010 Rosso di Montalcino flows across the palate with layers of lush, expressive fruit. The wine’s minerality comes through on the mid-palate and finish. I very much like the combination of rich fruit and freshness in this lush, textured Rosso. Banfi aged the Rosso in a combination of French oak barrels and casks. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016. ”
Medium-bodied, with blackberry and floral flavors galore and a good amount of jammy fruit. Fresh, with a medium fruity finish. Drink now. –JS
