Wine Enthusiast 88 points - This is a very satisfying Sangiovese di Romagna that shows great balance between its spicy oak tones and its bright fruit nuances. Those two sides of the wine meet perfectly at the middle to offer enough acidity, spice and fruit to pair with pasta or roast chicken.
Wine Spectator 87 points - Plum pudding, graphite and ground spice notes mix with a hint of kirsch in this lightly chewy red. Balanced and creamy on the palate. Drink now through 2017. 25,000 cases made.-AN

Winemaker's Notes: The aroma is vinous, intense, with a touch of violet. The flavor is dry, ample, rich and a little tannic. Pair with richly flavored main courses, like the classic lasagne, red meat, especially when roasted, or game.
|Wine maker notes
|The Sangiovese grape from Emilia-Romagna produces wine that matures more quickly and possesses a richer fragrance than Tuscan Sangiovese. Umberto Cesari Sangiovese Riserva is vinified at low temperatures in stainless steel and aged in Slavonian and Italian oak barrels. An aromatic blend with notes of violet, this dry wine has a rich taste balanced with slight tannins and a harmonious, long finish. This wine is ideal with red meats and aged cheeses.
