Impressions of raisins and walnuts are married to silky, dried red berry and currant flavors and aromas in this lush, finely structured wine, which shows a velvety, mellow texture supported by fresh, clean acidic notes.
Wine Spectator 90 points - Aromas of orange zest and dried cranberries. Sweet caramel flavors on the palate. Intense and rich with warm spice character. Pair with salted nuts.
Steve Tanzer 87 points - Refined, with bright flavors of dried berry, plum compote and cherry tart that are long and lush. Very creamy on the finish, which features chocolate mousse. Drink now.—K.M.
During the January following each vintage, Fonseca sets aside a reserve of very concentrated, powerful vintage quality red ports, selected primarily from the firm's own quintas and judged according to their aging potential. Over time these become their Tawny Ports. "Refined, with bright flavors of dried berry, plum compote and cherry tart that are long and lush. Very creamy on the finish, which features chocolate mousse." - Wine Spectator
