An unusual, non-vintage, not-estate version, popular by reason of its curious bottle. Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge is the king of the Southern Rhone. A bold, mouth-filling, Grenache-based red, supplemented by other regional varieties, especially Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvedre, it serves as a splendid accompaniment for red meats and cheese.
Elegant and well balanced with mature flavours of leather, spiced forest fruits and roasted game. Powerful, persistent flavours ensure a wine of excellent length that is a pleasure to drink.
The NV Chateauneuf du Pape La Fiole du Pape is a blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% other permitted varieties that comes mostly from 2012, yet includes juice from 2013 and 2014. Open knit, easy going and perfumed, with lots of Grenache character in its ripe berry fruit and spice, it has plenty of fruit, sweet tannin and will drink nicely for 4-5 years, although there’s no need to hold off.
