Mâcon Blanc Villages wine is straightforward, lively, rather light and goes down smoothly, with fruity and floral aromas. Sometimes, depending on the vintage, it may have heavier flavours, typical of Chardonnay grapes, such as hazelnut, almond and fresh butter.
Produced in southern Burgundy, Macon-Villages is 100% Chardonnay. It is most often un-oaked or lightly oaked, and represents a the pure, balanced expression of the Chardonnay grape grown on limestone-based soils. It's an inexpensive antidote to the highly alcoholic and oaky fruit bomb Chardonnays made all over the world.
