Mas de Daumas Gassac is the iconic red wine of Languedoc - it would be the Premier Grand Cru of the region, if only there was such a thing for Languedoc. The Mas' second wine, Moulin de Gassac, is a classic Southern blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Carignan, and a rather complex one at that. Medium-bodied, with concentrated red and black fruits and hints of spices, this Vin de Pays de l'Herault will benefit from some decanting/aeration. Try this with grilled/barbecued red meats, stews, pasta dishes.
