Wine Advocate 88 points - The NV Brut is a soft, accessible wine with well-defined aromas and flavors. Although this isn’t the last word on complexity, the wine offers lovely balance in a simple, uncomplicated style perfect for casual drinking. This bottle was disgorged July, 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
Elegant yet intense, this floral, citrus-infused bubbly is racy, with a keen, chalky edge that keeps it well-defined. Ginger and mineral notes emerge on the finish. Drink now through 2012. 100 cases imported. –BS
Very fresh and delicate, displaying lemon, ginger, apple and spice notes. The structure is firm, and there's a chalky feel on the finish, with a blond tobacco aftertaste. Needs some time to open. Drink now through 2020. –BS (Nov 30 2006)
All of the Ployez-Jacquemart Champagnes are of stunning quality, and, as one critic put it, "one of the best kept secrets in the realm of world class bubbly." The Extra Quality Brut is powerful and complex, both to the nose and on the palate, and offers a very long finish. Such an experience in Champagne at this low price is hard to believe, and one has to imagine it can't last forever.
