Before trying this Moscatel, we were biased thinking that all Moscatel wines were syrupy, sweet dessert wines…we soon saw the error in our ways. This Confreria Moscatel smells like white flowers (dogwoods, lilacs, and even some cherry blossom), ripe pears, apricots, and peaches. The smell is as refreshing as the taste. A wine with this many layers for less than $5 is not only unheard of, it’s a downright steal. Drink this as a cocktail or with seafood (clams, mussels, oysters, shrimp, but especially with bacalhau).
