Wine Advocate 90 points - Moving to the reds, the 2011 Catena Cabernet Sauvignon is complemented by 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The grapes are sourced from different Uco Valley vineyards, Villa Bastias, Altamira, Agrelo and Gualtallary. It is very intense with aromas of black currant and an herbaceous personality in the shape of notes of mint. It has some dusty tannins and pungent flavors in an intense, medium-bodied palate. Approachable and able to age. Drink 2014-2018. (Apr 2014)
Soft tannins and generous aromas of blackberry and cassis set this Argentine Cabernet Sauvignon apart from its competitors. Over the last 100 years and four generations of Catena family winemakers, this winery has been on the forefront of Argentine vitivinicultural innovation. The resulting wine is a classic example of New World wine made in the Old World style from high-altitude vineyards. A fine combination of elegance and power, with elegance holding the edge.
