Winery Notes: "Our Cabernet is a true expression of the Maule terroir. Dark red in color, it features ripe blackberries, cedar, spice, vanilla and cola in the nose. A lush mid palate is backed up by firm tannins and a long finish. Winemaker Gavin Taylor employs intense vineyard practices, including winter pruning, shoot suckering and fruit thinning, ensured that all vines were in perfect balance. Harvest was done entirely by hand based upon taste, not numbers. After a three-day, cold soak to extract additional color and flavor, the juice was fermented and then transferred to a combination of French and American oak barrels for 10 months."
|Extremes exude excellence. Whether you are considering the extreme nature of Chile’s diverse geography, or the adventurous spirit and character of the people who live there, Chile is one of the most extreme countries and stunning wine regions on earth. Calina wines celebrate this passion and adventure, fostering the moments where mere potential converts to true excellence.
Along 2,900 miles of sweeping Chilean coastline, our vineyards are planted on rolling foothills in the shadow of the soaring Andes Mountains. In this starkly beautiful, extreme countryside, cold Pacific winds and cool mountain mist dictate the climate. Vines struggle in the rocky soils, giving fruit of uncommon depth, concentration and character. This is winemaking on the edge, and you’ll taste the passion and adventurous spirit in every glass.
