Beverage Testing Institute 88 points - Golden silver color. Aromas and flavors of waxy apple, lemon and earth, with a crisp, fruity-yet-dry, light-to-medium body and a tangy, mouth-watering, mineral accented finish. Nice structure for the table or sipping. (May 2013)
Winery Notes: "Our Estate Riesling is produced from Riesling grown on the steep sloping vineyards of the Mosel valley. The incline of the vineyards - often as steep as 60 degrees - offers the vines optimal exposure to the sun. The soil - comprised of devonian slate and red clay - also plays an important role in determining quality. The slate stores heat from the sun and releases it during the night, further enabling the grapes to develop. After a temperature-controlled (cool) fermentation, the wine receives extended lees contact, which enhances depth and complexity. The wine is off-dry in style, with good balance and a solid core of pear, apple and citrus flavors."
