| From the sandy soils of Contra Costa County, the 2008 Mourvedre Ancient Vines and 2008 Carignane Ancient Vines are both very Provencal in character. It is difficult to produce a top-notch Mourvedre, but many of the finest emerge from Contra Costa. The 2008 Mourvedre Ancient Vines exhibits abundant notes of fresh mushrooms, tree bark, blueberries, spice, and earth, solid tannins (which are always a component part of Mourvedre), and an attractive texture. It should drink nicely for 2-3 years. |
