A full bodied wine with a judicious mix of softness and toasty creaminess. There's a great touch of lime to freshen it all up, as well as spice to go with the wood. Alvarinho is a low-yielding, high-quality white wine grape grown in Portugal's Vinho Verde DOC as well as in Spain's Galicia region, where it's called Albarino. Although reasonably productive, these grapes are so thick-skinned that only a small amount of juice can be extracted from them. Alvarinho grapes can produce creamy rich wines with complex flavors of apricots, peaches, and citrus. Although Alvarinho wines are some of the most expensive and highly prized white wines in both Portugal and Spain, this variety is rarely cultivated elsewhere. The Muros Antigos comes from the Moncao e MelgaƧo sub-region and is an elegant and complex white with aromas of almond, pear, litchi, and baking spices. Pair it with seafood or chicken or simply enjoy on its own.
