This is exceptional bottle of Vermentino from the island which makes a specialty of that varietal. It's straw-colored, and quite aromatic, with ripe yellow fruits and hints of minerality. On the palate it's medium-bodied, with a rich attack and mid-palate of melon, peach and citrus fruits that suggests it's off-dry, yet the finish is dry and lingering, a complex taste of various fruits and a touch of limestone. This is a heritage Italian wine of distinctive and appealing character begging for attention in a sea of (often bland) Pinot Grigio.
